Which martial art does Smith’s Martial Arts

Academy teach?

Currently, SMAA teaches World Taekwondo Federation (WTF)/Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Taekwondo.

How will Taekwondo classes benefit me and my

child?

Adult Program Teen & Kids Program Young Cubs At what age do you start teaching students? Currently, SMAA requires students to be at least three (3) years of age and older. We do NOT have a maximum age. We teach all students who would like to learn.

I am not that flexible. Will that be an issue for me

as a student?

No! Flexibility is not a requirement to participate in class at SMAA. A strong desire to learn and perform at YOUR ability is the only requirement.

I have knee, etc injuries. Will that deter me from

learning Taekwondo?

At SMAA, we keep all limitations of every student in mind, be it physical or mental. You are only limited by your mind. You are only required to the best of your ability. You are only required to give 110% of yourself at all times.

May I and/or my child try out a class or two before

we sign up?

YES!!! We encourage everyone to sign up for our free introductory classes before making any other commitments. We are SURE you and/or your child will love our instruction, but we want to ensure you are making an informed decision. The Intro Classes are absolutely free and available with NO OBLIGATION OR COMMITMENT to continue. (However, 95% of our students enjoy the instruction so much, that they sign up for more!)

How often can I and/or my child attend class?

Students can attend as many qualifying classes as they wish.  Our payment schedule is based on the number of classes purchased.  Students can attend classes until they have used up all of their options. However, we encourage everyone to attend a minimum of two (2) classes per week. This ensures you are growing in your Taekwondo journey and consistently expanding your mind.

How long does it take to reach 1st Degree Black

Belt?

Our students typically earn their 1st Dan black belts in about three (3) years. Please keep in mind that number is not written in stone. It is only a gauge for you to strive for towards that goal. Some students need more time to complete the curriculum, which is perfectly acceptable.

How long are the classes?

The Tiny Cubs (Age 3 – 5) classes are 20 minutes.  The Young Cubs (Age 6 – 7) classes are 30 minutes long. All other classes are 50 minutes long. The Young Cubs learn the same curriculum which is taught in the other classes, however to keep them interested and growing, their classes are shorter to ensure their continued development.

What is the cost of instruction?

Monthly, tuition varies according to specials decided upon by the staff for that month. Please call 770.870-9358 for more information.  However, on average Taekwondo and other martial arts instruction will cost between $100 – 250 per month.

Why is the cost so high?

Taekwondo training and other martial arts instruction is NOT a gym membership or aerobics class. Although all promote increased health benefits, Taekwondo classes teach survival skills that you just can't get from basic exercise programs.

Is there a contract?

Our agreements are for as little time as six (6) months.  Once the agreement is complete and payments are satisfied, students will not be under any other obligation to SMAA, Inc. 

What if I and/or my child want or need to stop

before the agreement is complete?

SMAA, Inc. offers an Early Termination clause within our agreements.  The clause is utilized to give the person paying a way out in case something changes within the student’s life or parents’ lives.

If I do not come to class, I do not have to pay,

right?

No.  Neglecting to attend class does not relieve you of your financial obligation.
